OK, we will turn the lights on and talk about
the thing we least
like to think about - death and eternity. Oooh...
I cringe at the prospect.
Why such a morbid topic? Can't we talk about
happy things like
sunshine, flowers, and love?
Sure we can. But if you give me moment you may
discover that eternity is
not a gloomy subject at all. In fact it is a
topic that can bring extreme joy
to your heart every time you think of it. I know
it sounds incredible, but its true!
Listen to what the Bible has to say about the subject:
"[Jesus,] Himself likwise shared in the same
flesh and blood so that
through death He might destroy him that had
the power of death,
that is, the devil, and release those who
through fear of death
were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
- Hebrews 2:14
Isn't that fantastic! God knew that we would be
afraid of death
and in bondage to that fear all our lives. So
he sent his Son Jesus
to live as a man and to destroy the fear of death
for us by
destroying the power the devil had over our lives.
